Dr. Oladayo, Olaosebikan Thompson

Dr. Oladayo was born in Ogbomoso, Oyo State on February 23, 1972.  He had his Primary School education at Osupa Baptist Day School, Ogbomoso between 1978 and 1984.  His Secondary School education was at Adeniran Memorial Grammar School in Ogbomoso in 1989.  He worked as a Church Sexton at Antioch Baptist Church between 1991 and 1993.  He attended Lagos State College of Education (Now Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education) between 1995 and 1997 where he obtained Nigeria Certificate in Education, Ijanikin, in Computer Science and Mathematics.  He was given a Honourary Life Membership, Lagos State College of Education Student Union Government.

He holds a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) in Educational Guidance and Counselling (Second Class Upper Division) from the University of Ilorin in 2001.  He went for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2002.  He campaigned for employment of Guidance Counsellor in Rivers State Secondary Schools through writing as a Columnist in The Tide Newspaper.  He had 29 published articles in the Tide Newspaper.  He proposed a Seminar for all Principals and Vice-Principals in Rivers State on need for Guidance Counsellors in Secondary Schools which was done after his Youth Service. This led to the employment of Guidance Counsellors in Secondary Schools in Rivers State.  He also wrote a Book titled ‘Guidance and Counselling in Education System’.  He won a State Award as the second best Youth Corp Member in Rivers State in December 2002.

He holds a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Educational Psychology in 2009 and 2014 respectively from the University of Port Harcourt.

He was employed as a Computer Science and Mathematics Teacher in Lily Primary School, Lagos between 1997 and 1998. After his National Youth Service, he worked as School Guidance Counsellor and Examination and Record Officer at Archdeacon Brown Education Centre, Woji. Port Harcourt between 2003 and 2011.  He also taught at Archdeacon Brown Advanced ‘A’ Level between 2010 and 2011.  He was appointed as the Principal of Christie Toby Inclusive Education Centre in 2011.   He had four years of unofficial Lecturing experience as Sandwich Lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt.  During this period, he attended and presented academic papers in both National and International Conferences.  He also Co-authored a book titled ‘Family Psychology:  Dynamics and Therapeutic Dimensions’ with one of his Lecturers at University of Port Harcourt.  He has several publications in National and International Journals.

 

He is a member of six Professional Bodies namely:  Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (RV/S/06259), Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), Rivers State Chapter; Nigerian Society for Educational Psychologists (NISEP); Nigerian Council of Educational Psychologists and National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) and National Council For Exceptional Children (NCEC).

 

He was appointed as a Lecturer at Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in May, 2016.  He was later appointed as the Guidance Counsellor in September, 2016 by the University Senate.  He has also been teaching at Michael and Cecilia Foundation College of Education since May, 2016.  He has served in various capacity between the two institutions such as Chairman, Accreditation Committee; Chairman, Students Welfare and Management Committee; Chairman, Dress Code Committee; Head of Departmental of Educational Psychology/Guidance & Counselling, MCFCOE, Academic Board Member, Member, Governing Council of MCFCOE and many others.  He was recently appointed as the Deputy Provost, Michael and Cecilia Foundation College of Education.  He is married to Dr. (Mrs) Eugenia Oladayo and blessed with children.
